Maggie Siggins was born and raised in Toronto. She worked as a writer, columnist, and television producer before moving to Regina in 1983 to teach journalism at the University of Regina. In 1985 she wrote A Canadian Tragedy, which tells the story of Colin Thatcher. It became the CBC movie Love and Hate. In 1992 she won a Governor General’s Award for Revenge of the Land, a non-fiction account of murder on the prairies that later became a motion picture. In 1995 she released a biography of Louis Riel entitled Riel: a Life of Revolution. She presently works as an author and journalist in Regina.
