Candace Savage was born in 1949 in the Peace River country of northwest Alberta. She was brought up in small towns in that region, and also for some time in Edmonton, Vermilion and Pincher Creek. After graduating from the University of Alberta, she lived in the North West Territories. She now lives and writes in Saskatoon. She is the author of nineteen books of non-fiction, most of which focus on wildlife or cultural history. Many of them are available in several languages.
