Book Poster
SPG began designing promotional posters featuring Saskatchewan-published books in 1995. These posters originally had a tourism and an educational component; working in partnership with the provincial Ministry of Highways, the posters (then called the Book Map) featured our books superimposed on the official map of the province in a location corresponding to some aspect of the book. An online, interactive version of the Book Map can be found here.
In 2008, SPG moved away from the Book Map format and began to concentrate on themed promotional posters; the first was an ‘old west’ theme: “Saskatchewan’s Most Wanted”, and in 2009, a rock star theme took Saskatchewan “Books On Tour”.
Usually, the book poster is produced every two years, and is always distributed free of charge to schools, libraries, bookstores, tourism destinations and tourism centres, museums, MPs, MLAs, and to a growing list of people who want cool book posters on their walls. Andy Warhol himself requests book posters every time we produce one, but shipping is a little cost-prohibitive to get them to him.
